The Croix Lorraine

"#FriFotos: Symbols - Patriarchal cross also known as Cross of Lorraine"

This one was painted on a wall in a tunnel going to the hilltop fortress of Saorge, in the South of France. It may look sinister here, but this actually represents the Croix Lorraine, a symbol chosen by Charles de Gaulle to be symbol of the Free France, as an answer to the Swastika.

It was also said to be the cross carried to the Crusades by the original Knights Templar, thus becoming a symbol of victorious heroes.
